Who We Are

The LCG Environmental Quality Division's mission is to improve the quality of life and environment for all citizens of Lafayette Parish through comprehensive and dynamic recycling, composting and household waste programs, steadfast and equitable enforcement of local environmental codes, and by properly ensuring LCG's compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. The Division will consistently and professionally work with all citizens and organizations to strive for the improvement of the environment and protection of the Vermilion River Watershed.

What We Do

The LCG Recycling Office oversees a variety of programs and events aimed at improving our environment.  On a daily basis, the Recycling Office assists residents with issues and questions concerning curbside recycling and oversees the operations of the Dean Domingue Compost Facility.  We educate the public about recycling, composting and other waste reduction efforts. Along with the greater EQ department, we plan and execute two household hazardous waste days  for residents to safely dispose of and recycle various household chemicals.

With our Embrace This Space partners we support and encourage quarterly litter clean ups throughout the city.  With the Bayou Vermilion District, we put on an annual Trash Bash - encouraging residents to volunteer for a morning of litter clean-up followed by free lunch in celebration of a cleaner community.
