Who We Are

VITA is a non-profit, community-based, adult education program that provides free, in-person, and virtual classes for basic and secondary education to adults in the Acadiana area (Lafayette, St. Martin, and Vermilion Parishes).

What We Do

VITA provides free, in-person, and virtual classes to adults. Certified instructors, paraprofessionals, and VITA-trained volunteers serving as tutors provide instruction in all five core subjects of the HiSET which include reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies for the High School Equivalency Test. Training includes financial literacy, digital literacy, educational counseling, career counseling, and workplace skills. Classes are held Monday through Friday at VITA's primary location in Lafayette. Classes will also be held remotely in the rural but easily accessible areas in St. Martin and Vermillion Parishes. Additionally, VITA provides two online programs Essential Education and eLearn, as well as, one-to-one tutoring. Financial literacy, educational counseling, and career counseling are all additional services that VITA offers for all students.
