Who We Are
The Confidence Campaign is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to create confidence and empowerment through self-awareness by providing educational programs focused on healthy hygiene habits and body positivity for girls ages 8-18 as they transition into and through puberty.
What We Do
We provide educational workshops and programs that encourage a foundation in healthy hygiene and reduce the perceived embarrassing situations that occur with puberty and body changes.
We travel throughout Louisiana with a focus on rural communities where resources may be limited.
I.Y.K.Y.K. (If You Know about Hygiene, You will always Know) (Interactive Workshop Option)- This is an educational workshop focused on healthy hygiene habits. NO girl wants to be the stinky kid in school (or anywhere else!). This interactive workshop was created to stress the importance of daily hygiene practices to ensure the girls have a firm understanding of how to prevent odors, and have an awareness of physical changes, as their bodies transition into and through puberty.
We want all girls to have the opportunity to know the basics of hygiene and our workshop facilitators guide each of the girls through scenarios, such as: how to properly wash your face, brush your teeth, floss, apply deodorant, and place a pad in a pair of panties, just to name a few. We know this may seem like things girls should have already been taught, but we can assure you that a lot of them have never been shown, and we want to fill that basic need gap! As an added resource, we provide each girl with a reference book (The Care and Keeping of You/The Body Book) that will answer questions they may have when they get home. Sparking curiosity creates actions!
Girl Stuff- This program is our hygiene product closet. We collect personal hygiene items of all types throughout the year to give to the girls who attend our interactive workshop to practice what they have learned. If the girls do not have access to the products that they need, then how can they achieve the goal? We will continue to provide hygiene items to any girl who needs them. We follow up with the program coordinators that allow us to provide the workshop and if they should need supplies, we will provide them. Examples of hygiene items provided are: hair products for all hair types and textures, soap (body wash and bars), tooth paste, tooth brushes, floss, deodorant, lotion, menstrual care products (pads/tampons/menstrual cup), hair brushes, hair ties, combs, underwear, and socks, just to name a few. Donation drives are ongoing throughout Acadiana to collect items. .
B.R.A. Closet (Bras Really Accessible)- Our bra closet and giveaway program has been established, not only to make sure the girls have access to bras, but to also make sure they are wearing the correct size and type for their personal comfort and support. Educating girls on how to properly wear these garments will allow them a skill that they can share with their family members, friends, and potentially their own children in the future. When our clothes fit properly and comfortably, we feel more confident and not self-conscious.
