Description

Hospice of Acadiana Summer Book Club is open to anyone who is grieving or is supporting someone who is grieving.

  • Books on grief can be a helpful way for many people experiencing loss to connect with others who have had similar experiences.
  • They can also be helpful guides to readers on their own grief journey or guides as they support others experiencing loss. There are many books on grief, and it can be difficult to decide which book to read.

Book club handles the decision making, so all one needs to do is purchase and read the month’s book and be willing to discuss their experience reading the book and be open to others sharing their own experiences.

Purchase and Read the Book of the Month, attend Book club meeting for open discussion and shared experiences. Upcoming Books of the Month will be announced at the meeting.

FIRST BOOK: It’s OK That You’re Not Ok by Megan Devine

This book “offers a profound new approach to both the experience of grief and the way we help others who have endured tragedy. She debunks the culturally prescribed goal of returning to a normal, “happy” life, replacing it with a far healthier middle path, one that invites us to build a life alongside grief rather than seeking to overcome it.”
