Volunteers work in the Second Harvest Food Bank warehouse re-pack room to separate donated food into specific categories and repack food into boxes that go out for distribution to member agencies. Specific assignments and projects will vary slightly based on operational needs. Your job assignment will be explained in further detail upon your arrival.
Please take note of the following details and requirements: Food Sorting volunteers must be at least 9 years old. Youth volunteers between the ages 9 and 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers should be able to be on their feet for at least 2 hours at a time. Tasks include lifting, pushing, and pulling boxes of up to 30 pounds. Our warehouse is located at 215 E Pinhook Rd. Enter the parking lot through the refinery street entrance. Enter the building through the warehouse door under the awning. YOU MUST WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES! Any volunteers wearing sandals, flip flops, or Crocs will not be permitted to work the shift. If you need a letter or record for service hours, please notify the Community Outreach Coordinator upon your arrival. Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift!
