Join us in the Vermilion Community kitchen as we prep and plate meals that will be distributed to children and families throughout the community. Each meal you help prepare brings us one step closer to ending hunger in our region.

Under the supervision of kitchen staff, volunteers will assist with food and meal preparation and packaging along with special projects and catering. Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks including packing various food, snack and drink items, making sandwiches, plating meals, packing meals for delivery, washing dishes, etc.
Please note the following requirements: Volunteers should be able to stand for at least 2 hours at a time. Volunteers should be able to bend, lift, push and pull at least 15 lbs. Volunteers must be at least 15 years or older to volunteer in the kitchen - NO EXCEPTIONS!
Community Kitchen Dress Code: Food safety guidelines require volunteers to wear gloves (provided by SHFB) and a hair net (provided by SHFB). Volunteers must wear hair nets, beard nets, and aprons while in the kitchen. No one may wear removable jewelry (earrings, piercings, bracelets, watches, and rings with the exception of a plain band). No fingernail polish or false fingernails may be worn in the kitchen. Volunteers may not bring cell phones into the kitchen. Closed toe shoes are required!
