This fall, Lafayette Consolidated Government is conducting a citywide Feet on the Street Cart Tagging and Recycling Education campaign to improve the quality of recycling by providing personalized and real-time curbside education and feedback. Volunteers will be needed to assist LCG staff and temporary staff in placing a recycling quick guide sticker on the inside lid of recycling carts in the city of Lafayette.
Volunteers will meet at a centralized location, 400 Dorset Ave, each morning for a quick orientation. Due to COVID-19 precautions, volunteers will be asked to use their personal vehicles to follow an LCG vehicle to a designated area for a 3-hour minimum shift of walking neighborhood streets, lifting lids of recycling carts, quick cleaning area to be stickered and placing stickers on the cart. On occasion, volunteers will encounter residents and will be expected to be able to give a quick, polite explanation of the recycling education campaign and give out a prepared info sheet explaining the campaign.
We ask that volunteers bring water and wear brightly colored clothing with comfortable close-toed walking shoes. Neon safety vests will be provided. Social distancing during volunteer work will be expected as a precaution against COVID -19.
If you are unable to meet the group at 6am, please contact Greg Guidroz at 337 654 6936 to confirm the groups current location.
