Please join us to welcome the 16 finalists for the 2024 Teacher Awards presented by Love Our Schools at the final game of the season at the UL Men's Basketball team on March 1, 2024. United Way volunteers and fans of the finalists will gather at 6:15 p.m. outside of the Cajundome entrance to create a loud, spirited, cheering human tunnel to welcome these outstanding finalists. At 6:30 the finalists will begin to promenade through the Welcome Tunnel and walk the red carpet to enter the Cajundome while the crowds cheer. We expect the promenade to be complete by 6:45 p.m.
We want to encourage volunteers and fans to make signs & posters, wear United Way or branded school shirts, bring noise makers & pom poms, cheer, and have a celebration. We want volunteers and fans to show their spirit as we support the 16 finalists as they head into the game to determine who the winners are.
This is a volunteer opportunity open to anyone in the community. Participating in the Welcome Tunnel is free. However, to enter the Cajundome, tickets are required to attend the game. Through the support of UL Lafayette, tickets to the game will be sold at a discounted rate of $8. Blocks of 50 or more tickets will be sold at $5 per piece. The discount code is “TEACH” and can only be used in person at the Cajundome box office. This is an active code that can be used for educators, friends, and family to join the game. Reminder that the Cajundome has a clear bag policy.
During the half-time presentation of the UL Lafayette game against Southern Miss, United Way of Acadiana will recognize finalists and the winner of each category will formally be announced to the crowds.
